Sandra Osborne said
" Anne was educated at Brechin High School and then the University of Aberdeen where she graduated MA in History and Politics. She went on to become a teacher and from 1978 she taught History and English - she became the principal teacher of English at Arbroath Academy in 1988 In the same year she won the Disabled Scot of the Year Award.
Anne and I were elected to Parliament together in 1997. We were both successful in winning our key seats from the Conservatives in 1997 and I'm glad to say that we have both been able to retain our seats in every election since.
In the 2011 New Year’s Honours List she was awarded a DBE for services to disabled people and equal opportunities. Anne has chaired the Work and Pensions Select Committee since 2010 and it is with that experience in mind I invited Anne to speak on Sharing the Risk on Welfare"
