Shadow Pensions Minister, Gregg McClymont, is the speaker at the United with Labour meeting in Ayr Town Hall this Thursday (8th May) at 7.30pm. He will be speaking on 'What Independence means for Pensions'. This is the second of three meetings chaired by local MP Sandra Osborne.

"Gregg will be setting out the implications for pensions should Scotland opt for independence and why pensions are best protected by staying in the UK. The previous meeting heard from Ian Murray, Shadow Trade and Investment Minister, on 'the Pound in your pocket' and the third is due to examine welfare with Dame Anne Begg, Chair of the Work and Pensions Select Committee. These are some of the big referendum issues that people want to hear about - that's why they are turning out in such large numbers for these meetings."

Gregg grew up in Kildrum, Cumbernauld and went to Cumbernauld High School.
From there he went on to take degrees in History at the Universities of Glasgow, Pennsylvania and Oxford - including a PhD in history at Oxford University. He taught history at St Hugh's College Oxford until he was elected MP for Cumbernauld, Kilsyth and Kirkintilloch East in May 2010.
A year later he was moved to the Labour front bench as an assistant whip before becoming Shadow Pensions Minister in October 2011.
