UK Parliamentary Boundary Changes
Sandra Osborne has commented on the proposed changes to Parliamentary Boundaries in Scotland announced by the Boundary Commission last week. They propose a new Kyle and Cumnock seat taking in Troon
Prestwick and the surrounding villages, the northern part of Ayr, Cumnock and Doon Valley and a new seat of Galloway and Carrick stretching from Stranraer to Maybole.
“Once again Scotland’s voice at Westminster is being reduced by a cut of 7 Scottish MPs while at a local level Ayrshire will no longer have all its Parliamentatry Constituencies within the Ayrshire boundary.
The Boundary Commission was given a very difficult job to do and I will be studying the detail of their proposals over the next few weeksm and listening to what local people have to say. The Labour
Party will be making its own submission to the consultation in due course. However, I want to make it clear that the real damage was done when the Tory Lib Dem Coalition Government pushed through Parliament their plans to slash the number of MPs in th hope of gaining some electoral advantage in 2015.
If anyone wants to look at the detail of what is proposed, the documents are all available on my website at www.sandraosborne.co.uk”
