MP Raises Closure of Girvan and Cumnock Driving Test Centres in
Debate on the Floor of the House
Sandra Osborne MP has been granted a Commons Debate on Tuesday 22 March to raise her opposition to the closure of the Driving Test Centres in Girvan and Cumnock.
Sandra said:
‘I have raised my concerns and the concerns of my constituents over the closure of Girvan and Cumnock Driving Test Centres but have received a totally unsatisfactory response from the Government on this.
‘I have applied for an Adjournment Debate to take my campaign further and I am pleased that my application has been successful.
‘I will be asking the Government to rethink it’s plan. Even if the buildings have to close, why can’t the service continue, even on a reduced basis? Why does the whole service have to go, depriving the rural areas of yet another service? It’s just another blow to rural areas.’
Sandra added:
‘It is not feasible or fair to expect people to travel 30/40 miles to their next nearest test centre and to travel that distance for their lessons.’
