MP Calls for Protection of Ayr Seafront Following the Scottish Governments Decision to
Approve Controversial Planning Application for Plot 9
Sandra Osborne MP has raised concerns that the Scottish Government’s approval of flats and office development on Plot 9 of Ayr Seafront may open the door for future development on the seafront.
Sandra said
‘I am very disappointed that Scottish Government planners have overturned South Ayrshire Council’s decision
and have decided to approve the application for flats and offices at the seafront. It is completely out of keeping with the existing character of the seafront and I had made my views on this known as part of the process.
‘I am also concerned that the development may pave the way for future development at the seafront and I will be asking South Ayrshire Council to clarify its strategy given the Scottish Government’s decision. It is now
even more important that the seafront is protected while tourist and leisure potential is recognised.’
