Scottish Labour’s referendum battle bus was back in Ayr last Saturday (26th) when it toured the town centre to take its positive campaign for Scotland staying in the United Kingdom direct to local people.
Waiting to welcome the bus were the local Labour No team of councillors and party volunteers.
Led by Scottish Labour’s deputy leader Anas Sarwar MP they took to the High Street to speak to people about their concerns and to put forward a passionate and positive case for Scotland’s place in the UK.
The ‘Indy Ref Express’ is travelling all over Scotland with volunteers to campaign for a No vote in the referendum this September. People can follow the bus on its travels on twitter at #indyrefexpress.
The bus then travelled to New Cumnock where the team of volunteers knocked doors to speak to residents directly about the referendum.
Speaking after the visit, Ayr Councillor Rita Miller said “It was great to welcome the Indy Ref Express back to Ayr and to be joined by our deputy leader in Scotland, Anas Sarwar. This referendum will be won by speaking to people and that is what we will doing day in day out. Our message of partnership and solidarity and making a case for Scotland staying in the UK is resonating with people and will we be working flat out right up till the day of the referendum.
Anas Sarwar, deputy leader of Scottish Labour, said: “The bus is part of a high profile, high impact campaign bringing fun, energy and buzz to Labour’s grassroots campaign.
“I am touring the country with our activists, taking our positive message to communities the length and breadth of Scotland. We will leave no stone unturned in getting our case to the people who will decide our country’s future.”
