Local MP Sandra Osborne and her Labour team were out in Ayr High Street last Saturday asking people to take part in her Ping Pong Challenge. Shoppers were asked to vote with a ping pong ball Yes or No on whether they supported Scottish Labour's plans to protect the NHS.
Sandra said 'Our NHS is stretched to breaking point, with staff under extreme pressure and Scottish Labour will provide 1000 extra nurses with money raised from a mansion tax, pooled and shared across the UK. Under 8 years of the SNP, waiting times and standards have continued to worsen. People should not have to wait for more than 12 hours on trolleys in A&E departments. Scottish Labour would introduce an immediate £100million frontline fund to give our services the support they need to continue running on evenings and weekends. Under the SNP, 8 out of 14 health boards have missed their waiting time targets. That’s why Scottish Labour has pledged to cut cancer waiting
We set up our beloved NHS in the first place, and Labour has cherished and cared for it like no other government. We pulled it out of the deep damage the Tories caused it in the 80s. Sadly, too much of this has been reversed by the SNP. If we are to see real moves towards giving the people of Scotland the healthcare they deserve, we must start fixing the NHS now. That’s why Scottish Labour has come up with real solutions that can be carried out today to help fix our NHS.'
