UK Parliament Roadshow
The UK Parliament’s Scottish Affairs Committee is inviting members of the public to attend an event which will explain the work of the UK Parliament and how individuals can engage with it more effectively.
Free and non-partisan, it will take place on 3rd November at the Tolbooth, Jail Wynd in Stirling from 10.30am to 4pm.
The morning session will focus on the work of select committees, and will be presented by members of the Scottish Affairs Committee, including the Chair Ian Davidson MP. The Committee will be able to talk to about their work, the inquiries they carry out, and how they examine matters which fall within the Secretary of State for Scotland’s responsibility.
In the afternoon there will be a workshop on the UK Parliament’s scrutiny of legislation and a cross panel discussion involving members of the House of Commons and Lords.
Local Labour MP Sandra Osborne welcomed the event:
“The event in Stirling is one of a series of events and activities being held throughout the UK during Parliament Week, which takes place between 31st October and 6th November. The aim of the Week is to build greater awareness, understanding and engagement with parliamentary democracy.”
She added:
“This is a good opportunity for people to learn more about how the UK Parliament works.”
