Sandra Osborne MP supports Great British Switch campaign to help consumers save money on their energy bills this winter
Sandra Osborne MP is calling for constituents to get involved with comparethemarket.com’s latest Great British Switch campaign. This provides the chance to help support competition in the energy market and comparethemarket.com’s new partnership with Friends of the Elderly. The aim is to raise awareness around the benefits of switching energy supplier this winter for older consumers. For every consumer who switches their energy supplier, comparethemarket.com will donate £5 to Friends of the Elderly.
Over the course of the 14-16 November comparethemarket.com will be holding its latest Great British Switch weekend, encouraging consumers to take advantage of switching energy supplier this winter, with savings of up to £200 on average on offer.
In partnership with Friends of the Elderly, comparethemarket.com has also compiled an Energy Guide which highlights the need for everyone in the community to help older people stay warm this winter through a combination of switching and taking other simple measures to make best use of their household energy.
Comparethemarket.com’s wider research found that over a third (34%) of over 65s ration their heating usage due to concerns about their annual energy bill. In addition, one in five (21%) would not know how to go about checking they were with the best energy provider, while 30% admitted the process is simply too complicated for them.

“I’m supporting the Great British Switch to raise awareness about the benefits of switching energy supplier as we approach winter. There are real savings to be made at a time when everyone is concerned about the cost of energy bills.
“It is important the over 65s also benefit from switching, and I very much support the idea of friends and family members helping elderly people navigate the process to help them save money.”
