MP Seeks Answers from Health Board on East Ayrshire Community Hospital Situation
Ayr Carrick and Cumnock MP Sandra Osborne called a meeting with Health Board managers to discuss the situation at East Ayrshire Community Hospital. Sandra previously raised concerns with the Health Board after plans for the proposed dental facility at the hospital were pulled after work had already been carried out to prepare for this. Wards remain closed today as a result of this.
Sandra met with Health Board chiefs at East Ayrshire Community Hospital on Friday 23 March and had a tour of the hospital.
She said
‘I called for the meeting with Health Board Managers as I wanted to make my views and concerns on this known. I wanted full clarification on exactly how the situation had occurred.
‘I remain extremely concerned that this situation has been allowed to occur in the first place and I have made my views on this more than clear.
‘I am pleased to hear that the Health Board advised that they are now looking to re-establish the affected wards as soon as possible and they are hopeful that this will be completed as quickly as possible. They are also hopeful of improving this area to ensure that it is better for patients.
‘The Health Board have confirmed that their Estates Department is prioritising this and they remain committed to working closely with the local community. I will be following developments closely.
‘The Health Board are confident that dental services can be provided by existing local practices.’
