MP meets local people in the House of Commons as part of Christian Aid lobby
Sandra Osborne said:
'I was delighted to take part in the Christian Aid lobby in Parliament on Wednesday 20 October and to meet with local people who had taken the trouble to travel down to London to take part in the event.
'Global poverty is an issue of huge concern to many of my constituents and I also took the opportunity that day to ask the Prime Minister about combating tax dodging in developing countries. It is a fact that poor countries are likely to lose more money through tax dodging than they receive in aid. Combating this requires our government to work internationally to change some financial rules to end secrecy and increase transparency, and strengthen the ability of developing countries to raise their own revenue. I was pleased to be able to raise this issue directly with the Prime Minister during Prime Ministers Questions.'
