Labour MP highlights Carbon Monoxide Dangers
Labour MP Sandra Osborne has highlighted
the dangers of Carbon Monoxide poisoning.
Sandra said:
My office has recently received very disturbing information from the charity Carbon Monoxide Awareness about the dangers of Carbon Monoxide poisoning . According to this report Carbon Monoxide is produced
when fossil fuels burn without enough air . This dangerous situation is caused through poor maintenance of central heating boilers and appliances such as Liquefied Petroleum Gas or kerosene –powered fridges , heaters or cookers . Problems can also arise when flues become partially or wholly blocked.
Sandra said that the Carbon Monoxide Awareness Charity are advising people to remember the following points to avoid the dangers of Carbon Monoxide poisoning-
1 Liquefied Petroleum Gas
powered appliances should be serviced by a Gas Safe registered engineer who is qualified to work with LPG.
2 Solid Fuel appliances
should be serviced by a solid fuel HETAS registered engineer.
3 Oil fuelled appliances
should be serviced by an OFTEC registered engineer.
Sandra said:
I am grateful to the Carbon Monoxide Awareness Charity for the information they have provided to my office and I hope people will follow the advice they give so that any XMAS wrecking tragedies from Carbon Monoxide poisoning can be prevented.
